I was given one of these kits for a cup cozy and coaster from EK Success and decided to try it out by making it for my mom.

The kit is very well designed and laid out.  All pieces are pre-cut for you and yarn is pre-sorted.  You are provided all supplies needed to complete the kit including the needle, (the only thing you might want is a pair of scissors or something similar for clipping the yarn as needed) making this not only just a great kit but also a wonderful one to give as a gift or to take when travelling. 

The directions are clear and graphic, presented with a minimum of words, making them quite simple to follow.  I found this kit would be a very good one for an older child or beginner to learn with. 

ha! I realized after completing this that I kinda forgot to give the birds eyes.

The only stitch needed (unless of course you decide to give your birds eyes unlike me hahaha) is a straight stitch making this a quick set to complete and again, making it perfect for learning some basic sewing skills.

The only negative I found with this was with the needle.  The backing felt (the sort of beige-ish colour in the background) is your typical soft felt but the red is a stiffer one – closer to being like a cross between felt/fabric and a thick paper or thin cardboard.  The needle is quite blunt and I found that with my hand issues it could be a bit difficult occasionally to sew through the red felt.  I started using one of my own needles with a sharper point and it worked much better but that needle in the kit could be an issue for some who purchase it.

All in all, if I were to rate this kit, I would give it a 9 1/2 out of 10 and highly recommend it to others.

I’m working on a little zipper pouch to go with this set and can’t wait to share that with you when it’s finished.  I’m sure my mom is really going to like it!
